Use Your Superpowers: Tell a Story!

In talking to clients, I often hear “oh I am not a storyteller,” or “nobody is interested in my life.” To that I say: False.  Everyone has a story to tell! I recently led a storytelling session at the Indiana Electric Cooperative meeting to help those working in marketing and communications tap their inner story telling superpowers.  What a great session!

It was great to be with a live crowd, and I enjoy designing experiences that help people realize they DO have interesting anecdotes that can help them communicate ideas.  It never ceases to amaze me as to how effective stories are as a way to communicate outstanding marketing communication ideas.

I always learn things too – like NEVER get out of your vehicle if you are in a car accident that involves a utility pole. This lesson was shared through a story about teen drivers – and as the mom of several young adults – it really hit home. That’s the power of a story, you make the point memorable and personal. While my calendar is filling up, there are still openings if you have a board meeting, conference or other setting where you need a speaker.  Give me a call and we can talk about unleashing your storytelling superpowers!

PS: Big thanks to Jennifer Stewart Burton for taking these photos during the sessions!
