Embrace the Day Like a 4-Year Old

Zoom.  The minute this little guy’s feet hit the ground; he was running.  He didn’t care that it had snowed last night, or that it was still dark outside. He knew he was awake, and that was a good enough reason to run laps around my living room.  He didn’t only run laps but tried to make each one faster than the previous.   It was so good to see this spunk, as this little person who is my cousin’s son is now in his car seat heading down to Riley Children’s Hospital where he’ll have a check up to confirm his cancer is gone.  He didn’t wake up thinking about that either (of course his parents did) – he just knew he wanted to run around, and maybe see my cat.How many of us embrace the day with such zeal? How many of us let the past be the past and look forward to what this day brings? You don’t have to be a morning person – or run laps in the TV room – to start your day with fresh enthusiasm.  I am sensing a theme of gratitude in my blogs, which perhaps comes from slowing down enough to notice the amazing gifts of family, 4-year olds and hugs.  Grayson’s million-dollar smile has inspired me to live this day to the fullest, and I hope it brings a smile to your face as well.  Time to lace up my shoes!
